Volunteers are a critical part of the operation of the Iain Nicolson Audubon Center at Rowe Sanctuary and an important link into the greater community. Volunteers help us complete projects in the office, help with maintenance, and maintain and preserve the 2400 acres of habitat, critical to the preservation of the Sandhill Cranes.

“Crane Season” is our busiest time of the year. Rowe Sanctuary’s Crane Season usually begins at the beginning of March each year and ends some time during the first week of April. During the 2016 crane season we had over 20,000 visitors come through our doors interested in learning about and seeing some of the 600,000 Sandhill cranes that stage along the central Platte each spring.

All volunteers are required to complete our volunteer packet which includes a successful background check and an interview.

We look forward to getting to know you and using your gifts to continue in Rowe Sanctuary’s mission; to conserve and restore the Platte River ecosystem, focusing on cranes, other wildlife and their habitats for the benefit of humanity and the earth’s biological diversity.
