Our two food trucks make multiple stops around central and south Omaha, ensuring we reach the greatest number of people possible on any given night. Depending on the weather, at the height of the winter season as many as 400 individuals per night stop by the food trucks for a hot meal.

Winter Night Watch depends on volunteers to help drive the food trucks and assist with the distribution of meals and winterwear at the stops. Each truck requires four volunteers for every three-hour shift (Due to the sensitive nature of this program, we ask that all volunteers be over the age of 18. Youth ages 14-18 can participate if accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. The parent/guardian must sign up for a volunteer slot as well.).

Each route includes three volunteer positions:
Driver - The volunteer driver will drive The Salvation Army mobile canteen on the designated route. Once at the stop, their role will be stand by the canteen and assist with crowd engagement and organization.
Server - Each canteen has two servers. These volunteers help hand out meals to those in need at each stop along the designated route.
Jump - The jump volunteer supports the drivers and servers. They will assist the driver at each stop with crowd engagement and organization as well as hand out items such as coats and scarves as needed.

If all positions are full, you can be added to a substitute list. Substitute volunteers may be contacted on the day they are needed.
