The mission of the Bess Streeter Aldrich Foundation is to promote and preserve the life and works of Bess Streeter Aldrich and promote reading and writing by all citizens. Mrs. Aldrich, one of Nebraska's Hall of Fame recipients, wrote more than 100 short stories and 12 books. Her home, which is located in Elmwood, Nebraska, has exhibits for viewing, is available for tours, and is a site that is suitable rental opportunities (including weddings and garden events).

Goals related to accomplishing the Foundation's mission include:
1) The development of public awareness of Mrs. Aldrich and her writing through publications, public tours, and educational events 
2) The regular display of exhibition items related to Mrs. Aldrich and her time period
3) The promotion of reading and writing activities, and the
4) The active collection and preservation of artifacts and period pieces.

To accomplish these goals, the Foundation seeks volunteers to help maintain Mrs. Aldrich's home, to promote her legacy by giving tours and/or developing marketing items, and assist with events that promote reading/writing, raise funds for the foundation, and increase visibility of Mrs. Aldrich's works.
